Young Artists Program
In addition to two fully-staged productions in the summer, Civic Theatre’s Young Artists Program (YAP) is a year-round series of workshops and seminars designed just for high school students interested in improving their skills in a professional setting and looking to prepare for college auditions and beyond.
All workshops are taught by performers and instructors with extensive experience locally, regionally and nationally. YAP also includes intensive rehearsals, specialized workshops and performances. Training will focus on developing the skills needed to succeed professionally, including character development, vocal coaching and advanced dance technique.
YAP MASTER CLASS: Intermediate Tap with ANNE BECK for Grades 8-12 AND YAP Alumni!
This workshop is for students grades 8-12, and YAP alumni.
Intermediate Level tappers will be challenged in this focused Master Class led by YAP Coordinator and Professional Choreographer, ANNE BECK!
Tap shoes are required for this class and students will need to have mastered basic tap steps: flap, shuffle, time steps, etc.

YAP Winter Break Jazz Funk Master Class with Michael Humphrey
This workshop is for students grades 8-12, and YAP alumni.
Bring in the noise AND the funk in this high-energy Dance Master Class led by local performer and teaching artist, Michael Humphrey!
Curriculum for this workshop will be very aerobic. Dress appropriately and have the correct footwear - "dance" or athletic shoes.

YAP Winter Break Open Level FOSSE Style Class with Anne Beck
This workshop is for students grades 8-12, and YAP alumni.
Learn the techniques of legendary choreographer, Bob Fosse, in this Master Class led by YAP Coordinator, Anne Beck. (*This class can also serve as intro/prep for auditions for the YAP summer production of CHICAGO: TEEN EDITION!)a
Appropriate footwear is required - "jazz dance" shoes/boots highly suggested, or an athletic shoe.
