Performance Opportunities

ACT ONE

ACT ONE is Jr. Civic’s premiere performing troupe and our ambassador to the communities we serve. Made up of up to 30 talented young performers from throughout the region, this group meets regularly throughout the year and will participate in community events all over metropolitan Indianapolis. In past years, ACT ONE has performed at the Circle of Lights holiday event on Monument Circle, at the Indianapolis 500 Festival Kids’ Day and at the Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies for the state games in Terre Haute. Repertoire focuses on songs and scenes from the Musical Theatre canon.

This year, our season will culminate with a trip to New York City for performance and workshop opportunities as well as attending Broadway shows! There will be additional cost for the trip and we will be instituting fundraising efforts throughout the year to help cover those costs.

*Students auditioning for ACT ONE must have either previous Jr. Civic class/stage experience OR have been a previous ACT ONE member.

Jr. Civic Mainstage Musical 2020

This kids-only production is a highlight of the Jr. Civic season. Open to ages 7-14, this fully-staged musical attracts children from throughout the metro area and affords them the opportunity to participate in a professionally staffed, technically supported mainstage experience.

Performing experience not necessary and children need not be enrolled in Jr. Civic classes to audition. Young performers are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song (bring sheet music!) and dress in comfortable clothing for a movement audition. An accompanist will be provided.
