Young Adult Program

Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre is pleased to announce the return of its popular educational program formerly known as the Young Adult Summer Musical.  The newly named YOUNG ADULT SUMMER MUSICAL THEATRE PROGRAM is a three-week training experience for students age 14-18 that will consist of intensive rehearsals and specialized workshops culminating in a fully-supported and professionally-staffed production on the Tarkington stage.  Training will focus on developing the skills needed to succeed in the world of musical theatre including character development, vocal coaching and advanced dance technique.  This year’s production will be Anything Goes.

AUDITIONS: Auditions – Friday, April 26 from 4:30 pm and Sunday, April 28 at 2:00 pm
(Those auditioning need only attend one evening of auditions.)  Please prepare 16-32 measures of a song and have sheet music in the appropriate key.  An accompanist will be provided.  There will be a mandatory movement/dance audition.  Please bring comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear.  Click here for more information.

REHEARSALS:  Rehearsals for this year’s production – Anything Goes – are to be decided.

PERFORMANCES:  Performances of Anything Goes will be July 25, 27, 28, 2013 in the Tarkington.  Thursday & Saturday at 7pm, Sunday at 2pm.

Audition Dance Workshop
Come learn many of the combinations that will be used in Anything Goes.

Friday, March 15, 2013, 4:30 – 6:30   (free, no registration needed)
Audition Prep Session
An abbreviated and informational course to provide the interested actor with the tools necessary to prepare to audition for a Anything Goes. Attendees will receive some actual audition material in advance and have the opportunity to see the audition space.

AUDITIONS – Friday, April 26 from 4:30 pm and Sunday, April 28 at 2:00 pm
Auditions are open to all students ages 14 – 18 (Entering freshman year of high school through recent graduates)

(Those auditioning need only attend one day of auditions.) Please arrive at the stated start time on the audition day that works best for you.  The dance segment of the audition will be first, and all those auditioning will need to participate in the dance portion of the audition.  Please wear comfortable clothes/dance wear to the audition and bring the appropriate shoes.  If you wish to change for the vocal and acting segments of the audition, you will be able to do so.   Please prepare 16-32 measures of a musical theatre song and have sheet music in the appropriate key.  An accompanist will be provided.  Any questions can be directed to Kelly Smith @ Kelly@civictheatre.org.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsals begin Monday, June 10, 2013.
Rehearsals are Sundays from 2:00 – 6:00 pm and Monday – Thursday from 6:30 – 10:00 pm. No rehearsals July 4, 5 or 6th.  Sunday, July 7th rehearsal will be moved to the evening to allow for family travel.
