A hilarious farce about two down-on-their-luck Shakespearean actors, LEADING LADIES was written by internationally acclaimed playwright, Ken Ludwig, author of Broadway hits Crazy For You and Moon Over Buffalo. Actors Jack and Leo have sunk so low, they find themselves performing on the Moose Lodge circuit in Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that a local rich widow is about to die and leave her fortune to her long lost English nephews, they decide to cash in by passing themselves off as her beloved relatives. The plan hits a snag when they discover that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces. Mayhem ensues when the actors become "Maxine and Stephanie".
