Elton John and Tim Rice's contemporary musical take on Verdi's grand opera, inspired by the legend of Aida, tells of the forbidden, fateful love between an Egyptian soldier and an enslaved Nubian princess - a love that ends in tragedy but ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between two warring nations. The original score, winner of a Tony Award and the 2001 Grammy, is an eclectic mix of styles, from gospel, stirring ballads and blues to flashy pop-rock tunes. The show features many haunting and beautiful scenes, gorgeous costumes and such acclaimed musical numbers as "Every Story Is A Love Story", "Enchantment Passing Through", "Elaborate Lives" and "Written In The Stars."
